Gearing Up for Success

Entering Kindergarten-8th Grade

St. John's Summer School programs offer an ideal blend of enrichment and academic preparation classes in a fun and engaging environment. Courses are aligned with STEAM and offer a variety of innovative learning opportunities to kick off a successful 2017 – 2018 school year. We serve students who are entering Kindergarten through 8th grade, with a variety of schedules available. Please click on the links below to learn more about our programs.

JumpStart Kindergarten Summer Program

Students entering Kindergarten

Let's gear up for a successful Kindergarten school year! Students participate in fun, grade appropriate activities in anticipation of a great Kindergarten experience. They enjoy and reinforce friendships in an interactive Kindergarten environment. Hands-on readiness experiences prepare students for an exciting year. Early registration is encouraged for this popular summer offering.

Children will have their own staff, classrooms, and special programs separate from the other summer school programs on campus. The hours are 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the option for an extended day (8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.).

Elementary and Middle Division Summer Program

Students entering 1st-8th Grade

Summer Session 2017 offers engaging academic and enrichment courses suited to students entering 1st through 8th Grade. Families select classes from an array of exciting options to best match their children’s individual interests and needs.Summer Session students will enjoy additional opportunities for innovation beyond their regular classrooms, with many courses offered in our new, state of the art STEAM facility.Students attend three classes from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., rotating among classrooms according to their customized schedules.There are also options for an Extended Day schedule: 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., and 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Sports Camps featuring volleyball and basketball.

English Immersion Summer Program

Students Ages 9-13 Years Old

St. John's Episcopal School is proud to offer a summer program that combines enrichment and English immersion experiences for international students. This program is designed for students who are ages 9 to 13 years old and who seek to improve their English language proficiency. Students applying for the English Immersion Summer Program will join our many domestic summer program students in selected, fun and engaging classes from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. then, stay for our popular lunch and recess time from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. After lunch, English Immersion students will meet as a group for an English Language and Culture Immersion class from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. This class will be taught by an experienced multi-lingual educator.

During the morning hours, all students in this program will take our popular robotics class and two other courses selected from the following: athletics fun and games, yoga, cooking, studio art, and craft makers. Students rotate among classrooms according to their customized schedules. Early registration is encouraged to allow for preferred selection of courses. Space in this specialized program is limited to 14 students, with additional students placed on a waiting list. Please be advised that classes with low enrollment are subject to cancellation. If a class is canceled, you will be contacted to select from a list of alternatives.

Due to limited availability, credit card payment for this program must be made within one week of registration. The program fee for the full two weeks is $800. This covers tuition, registration, insurance, class materials, and two local field trips. If your child is withdrawn prior to July 24th, the School will refund $600 of the fees. After July 24th, fees are non-refundable. Any refunds due will be issued after the end of the session.

St. John’s Summer Sports Camps offer a balance of essential skills development and exciting play practice in volleyball and basketball for children entering 3rd through 5th Grade. Kelly Dietz, St. John’s PE teacher/coach and former Big Ten collegiate athlete, will guide players to improve their skills, while building friendships and team spirit in a fun and dynamic atmosphere.

Middle Division Girls Volleyball is a great opportunity for 6th through 8th Grade girls to experience volleyball camp with the Cardinals! The camp is designed for everyone, from club players to newcomers. All basic volleyball skills will be reinforced, with team drills and competitive games supporting their practice. Camp will be an excellent way for young players to learn and hone their skills in preparation for the Cardinal volleyball program, if they choose to participate. Coach Dietz will provide many opportunities for fun and engaging play!

Cheer for girls in 6th through 8th Grade is a new addition this year to the summer sports camps. Middle Division girls will enjoy this opportunity to learn and practice cheer routines for the upcoming sports seasons. This will be a great way for students to explore their interest in becoming a member of any cheer team. Go Cardinals!

St. John’s Episcopal School is excited to host Galileo Innovation Camps for Kids again!

After a week at Camp Galileo, you’ll hear your children use words like “trusses” and “visionary” without missing a beat. You’ll probably even hear why mistakes are marvelous things to make. All this engrossing learning is wrapped in four, fresh, weekly themes. Grouped by grade and nurtured by their incredible staff, campers take on art, science and outdoor activities tailored to their level, and they learn lasting innovation skills like collaboration and reflection. As campers grow, the curriculum evolves to include more advanced concepts, complex projects, and creative freedom.

Galileo Summer Quest is where kids ages 5th through 8th Grades get to dive deep into something that inspires them. Designed for burgeoning visionaries, Galileo Summer Quest empowers 5th to 8th Graders to take the next step. Campers choose from 13+ immersive majors, picking something they already love or a new area they're excited to explore, then spend the week diving in.Mentored by expert instructors and equipped with professional tools and materials, campers become YouTube producers, build catapults, whip up inventive dishes, design custom video games and much, much more. Each confidence-building, collaboration-packed week gives them an opportunity to realize their personal vision in a new inspiring subject.
