The Upper Elementary Student Council allows students to experience the election process, leadership opportunities, grade-level and school-wide communication, and collaborative school and service projects. These experiences prepare students as they move into the Middle Division and future leadership opportunities. Each class in 3rd and 4th Grade elects two class representatives (one girl and one boy), for a total of approximately 8 advisory representatives in the Student Council. The entire 5th Grade participates in a modified election process for officer positions. Serving on Student Council is both a great responsibility and an honored privilege. Our student body trusts in the Council’s ability to represent them and St. John’s Episcopal School. Representatives and officers serve as role models within the St. John’s Episcopal School community.
The St. John’s Middle Division Student Council plays an integral role in the life of the school. The voice of the student body, these 17 elected officers meet weekly to discuss the issues of the day, to raise awareness, and to provide student leadership for positive changes to our school and community. Student Council leads such programs as Change for Change, Candy-Grams, Food Drives, Out with the Drought, Supporting Senior Citizens, Soles for Souls, Students for Safe Water, and the daily morning Gatherings. Additionally, Student Council plans and leads the fabulous all-school pep rallies, spirit week, and spirit days.
