Application Process

We would like to provide each prospective family an opportunity to develop a thorough understanding of our School and mission. We are committed to making your school experience valuable, rewarding, and enriching.

There are five simple steps to complete an application, outlined below. If you have any questions at all, our Admissions Office will be more than happy to help.

Steps to Apply

Step 1: Schedule a Tour

We would love to show you around! We invite you to schedule a tour and attend our Open House.

Campus Tours
In the summer we will be offering group tours every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. This will provide you with an overview of the school and a chance to see the campus. A one-on-one follow-up meeting with the Admissions team can be scheduled after the group tour.

Our Admissions Open House will be held on November 11 on campus.

Step 2: Apply Online

Applicants wishing to be considered under our initial Admission Review should submit an application by February 1. There are limited spaces available in certain grade levels. Please note the deadlines. Click below to access the online application. Please note that the application fee is non-refundable.

Step 3: Schedule an Assessment (Pre-K-5th Grade)

An Admissions assessment is required for all applicants entering Pre-Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Once your application has been submitted, you will be able to schedule an assessment on the assessment calendar listed in the online application checklist. Please contact the Admissions Office if you need to schedule a different day or time. Students applying to 3rd - 5th grade will do their admissions assessment during their buddy day. 

Step 4: Schedule ISEE (6th-8th Grade)

St. John’s requires all Middle Division applicants to take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). If you have already taken the ISEE, please submit your scores using the school's ERB code: 054209. If you would like to sign up for an ISEE date at St. John's, please follow the link here and use the following reference codes to search and register for the test dates at St. John's. Please make sure to use the St. John's ERB code of 054209 when registering for the exam so that the school receives a copy of your ISEE results.

Step 5: Schedule a Buddy Day (3rd-8th Grade)

The Buddy Day allows faculty to assess an applicant as well as provide a prospective student a “day-in-the-life” of a St. John’s student. A Buddy Day is optional for 1st through 2nd grade applicants. 3rd through 5th grade applicants have a full day Buddy Day during which they will also be administered the Admission assessment. A full-day Buddy Day is required for 6th through 8th grade applicants. Buddy Days can be scheduled on the calendars listed in the online application checklist. Please contact the Admissions Office if you need to schedule a different day or time.
