Application Process

The Admissions Office will notify applicants of the admission decision via email. All accepted students will receive an online enrollment contract. To fully reserve the accepted applicant’s space, the contract must be signed and returned to the Admissions Office and the Registration Deposit must be received no later than two weeks from the date of signing the enrollment contract. Form I-20s and other necessary documents will be mailed only after the enrollment contract and Registration Deposit have been received.

We encourage all families to visit our campus. St. John’s strives to get to know each prospective student and family while outlining our curriculum, touring the campus and introducing our community. Step 3: Submit Supporting Documents

To complete your application, the following documents must be submitted to the Admissions Office along with payment of the application fee. Items can be uploaded directly to the online application checklist:

International Applicants Requiring the Form I-20

  • Copy of Birth Certificate
  • Student Photo
  • Copy of Current Passport including pages indicating name, date of birth, etc.
  • Immunization Record: Must be professionally translated into English.
  • Student Report Cards: Must include previous 2 years and current school year (if available). Report Cards must be translated into English.
  • Student Writing Sample: 6th Grade through 8th Grade applicants only
  • English Proficiency Test:

Kindergarten through 5th Grade Applicants: No external testing is required. Admission assessments will be given during the Buddy Day or an interview will be conducted via Skype if the applicant cannot visit campus. 

6th through 8th Grade Applicants: Submit test results from the iTep SLATE. For students attending a Buddy Day, the iTep SLATE will be administered during the Buddy Day. 

Recommended overall iTep scores are as follows:

  • Students entering 6th grade: iTep score of 2.5 or higher
  • Students entering 7th grade: iTep score of 3.0 or higher
  • Students entering 8th grade: iTep score of 3.5 or higher

 

  • Letter of Recommendation:

Kindergarten- 5th Grade Applicants: One recommendation is required from a primary teacher.

6th through 8th Grade Applicants: Two recommendations are required, one from a current English teacher and one from a current math teacher.

  • Financial Statement: Must indicate proof of funds enough to cover the cost of tuition and living expenses for the year. A bank statement should be emailed directly to admissions@stjohns-es.org.

International Applicants NOT Requiring the Form I-20

  • Copy of Birth Certificate

  • Copy of Green Card or other current visa documentation
  • Immunization Record: Must be professionally translated into English.
  • Student Report Cards: Must include previous 2 years and current school year (if available). Report Cards must be translated into English.
  • Student Writing Sample: 6th Grade through 8th Grade applicants only
  • English Proficiency Test: This test may be required at the discretion of the Admissions Office.

Step 4: Buddy Day or Student Interview

A Buddy Day or Student Interview is a required part of the application process for international students. If the student will be in the area, an on-campus Buddy Day is preferred. On the Buddy Day, the applicant will spend the day shadowing a current St. John's student. The applicant will attend classes and Enrichments and will also take the admissions assessment and iTep SLATE English Proficiency exam (6th-8th grade applicants only). If the student will be attending a Buddy Day, a student interview is not necessary. Buddy Days can be scheduled by the family on the application checklist. If the student cannot come to campus for a Buddy Day the Admission Office will contact you to schedule a student interview. Interviews can be conducted via Skype or WeChat.

Please note, students who do not come to campus for a buddy day will be at a disadvantage in the admission process. 

Step 5: Notification of Decision

The Admissions Office will notify applicants of the admission decision via email. If excepted, the Admissions Office will email the online enrollment contract agreement and required school forms. The contract agreement must be signed and returned along with the Registration Deposit to the Admissions Office within two weeks, or as stated in the contract.

Step 6: School Documentation

The following documents must be submitted to the Admissions Office prior to the first day of school:

  • Results of a Tuberculosis Test (test must have been taken in the U.S. within the past 6 months to 30 days of receipt by St. John’s)
  • Proof of Health Insurance

Step 7: Tuition Payment

Tuition must be paid in full by August 1. Tuition is non-refundable. Students will not be allowed to start school until tuition is paid in full. 

Step 8: Submit I-901 Form

International students who received their Form I-20 from St. John’s must submit their I-901 Form to the Admissions Office after entry into the U.S.
